Plans
A plan is a package you sell. There are two kinds, matching the two ways you sell internet.
Hotspot plans
Prepaid time or data bundles for the captive portal. Each has:
- Name and price (e.g. Daily Unlimited, KSh 100).
- Duration — how long the access lasts (1 hour, 1 day, 1 week…).
- Speed — download and upload limits.
- Data cap — optional; leave empty for unlimited.
- Shared devices and TV slots — how many devices one purchase covers.
PPPoE (broadband) plans
Monthly subscription packages for fixed lines. Each has:
- Name and monthly price (e.g. Gold 15 Mbps, KSh 3,500).
- Speed — download and upload.
- Burst — optional higher speed for short bursts, so browsing feels snappy.
- Data cap — optional; most home plans are uncapped.
The speed you set is enforced on the router automatically when a client on that plan is provisioned. Change a plan’s speed and every client on it can be updated.
Tips
- Keep your plan list short and clear — customers choose faster from three good options than ten.
- Price for M-Pesa: round numbers (20, 50, 100) are easier to pay and remember.
- You can retire a plan (mark it inactive) so it stops being offered without deleting the history of everyone who was on it.
